Profile
Dr. Niranjan Kanaki joined KBIPER in October 2008 as an Assistant professor in the department of Pharmacognosy. He worked as a Senior Research Fellow for 5 years at B. V. Patel PERD Centre, Ahmedabad. This apart, he has over 8 years of teaching experience, including his tenure at KBIPER. He has contributed to five monographs published in Indian Pharmacopoeia 2007, and also to 20 monographs of medicinal plants in "Quality Standards of Indian Medicinal Plants" published by Indian Council of Medical Research. He has written four book chapters and has 14 research articles to his credit. He has guided 12 post-graduate students and is currently guiding five Ph.D. students. His research interest includes bioactivity-guided isolation of active compounds from natural products, standardization of herbal drugs, and rational development of herbal formulations. His current research activities include evaluation of herbal drugs for anti-aging and anti-osteoporotic activities. At KBIPER, he teaches pharmacognosy, biostatistics, research methodology and scientific communication.
