Welcome to webpage of K.B. Institute of Pharmaceutical Education & Research (KBIPER) Drug information centre (DIC). KBIPER DIC is a valuable resource available to healthcare professionals and medicine users. A main purpose of the Drug Information Service is to implement pharmaceutical care by providing timely, concise, thorough, patient-specific, and evidence-based responses to healthcare professionals' and information seekers’ drug information requests.
With the establishment of its Department of Clinical Pharmacy in 2010 at institute, KBIPER and KSV became the first institution in GUJARAT to provide comprehensive drug information services. The DIC was set up in 2011 and is located in the C.M. Patel Nursing College campus besides civil hospital. It is staffed by clinical pharmacists and pharmacologist who are drug information specialists and serves as a training ground for pharmacy students.
The KBIPER Drug Information Service is available free of charge to healthcare professionals and information seekers. This service is open to the public on prescribed medicines. By imparting information, KBIPER DIC is not promoting self medication and promoting any brand.

  2. This service provides up-to-date and unbiased information regarding medicines and their use. For example, availability, action, price, substitutes, interactions, safety in pregnancy or lactation, side effects and storage/stability and transportation of drugs, etc.
  3. What is the need of Drug Information Service?
  4. Generally, people have very little knowledge regarding proper and correct use of medication. This lack of knowledge may become harmful as it may lead to aggravation of disease, more side effects, less compliance, and even increased cost of therapy. Various studies have shown that if patients discuss their therapy related problems and concerns with a drug expert-a pharmacist, it resulted in increased compliance and better treatment outcomes.
